Canto Bight as a mid-film overture of the entire film thematics Luke Skywalker's *literally every frame onscreen* as a bold neon sign of 'THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT FAILURE AND LEARNING FROM IT' Holdo's justified mistrust of hotshot victory-at-all-costs Poe

Finn's growth from 'team me and my pals, fuck your principles' to fully committed Rebel Benicio del Toro's presence as symbolic 'this is what unprincipled looking out for Number One gets you, kid' Ending sequence with broom kid democratizing the Force away from bloodlines

How does the broom kid democratize the Force? It doesnt contradict the idea that only certain ppl can use the Force, that only certain ppl have the genetics and midichlorians for it. Just because he aint a Skywalker doesnt democratize it. What about other slave kids?

it builds on the reveal that Rey's parents were of no special lineage, it breaks the Skywalker stranglehold on the storyline. Also midichlorians got retconned out, and good riddance.

There's a difference between 'some folks hit the genetic lotto necessary to be good at basketball' and 'only proper descendants of the Hapsburg line can be good at basketball'.
