i'm saying memorization of things for the purpose of passing an examination is bad. if the interview is testing rote memorization it's a bad interview and might be a really bad place to start working as a junior swe.
-
imo what a junior swe needs in a job is mentorship and training and the understanding that they will be learning intensively on the job for their first 6-12 months.

like, I can ask you to recite what your interpretation of the MVC design pattern adapted for serverside web frameworks is. and then I can ask you how it might differ for a clientside framework. is that what you want to review?
-
i don't usually ask questions like that on interviews though because i find they have low correlation with assessing if the candidate will be able to do a good job. it mostly assesses how many blog posts they've read.
