Has any Marvel supervillain ever faced the death penalty? I can think of heroes who have been threatened with it, but no villains.

This is probably my most persistent complaint about superhero comics: I want more aftermath, I want more follow-up on all the shady government and corporate shit that leads to crises, I want someone to lose their fucking job when 100 super-powered terrorists walk out of prison.
-
have you read The Authority? it has a more realpolitik worldview and they generally do account for the aftermath (does not usually involve the justice system).
-
Not yet, but it's on my list.

I think you just read through Nextwave, right? Imagine The Authority as being the play-it-straight version of Nextwave. Same author (Warren Ellis). It's really good.
-
Yeah, Warren Ellis is one of my faves. Have you read his Freakangels? Great story he did in a webcomic format, think it's all still online.

Tom King's current Batman story arc is one of the rare times I've ever seen a comic directly dealing with the interaction between the criminal justice system and super persons. Bruce Wayne sitting on the jury deliberating on the fate of Mr. Freeze.
