The problem with the IQ metric is that it axiomatically assumes a Gaussian probability density function a priori. An IQ point is 1/15 of a standard deviation; meaning one IQ point is not fungible with another. It's not a legitimate unit of measurement based in raw data.https://twitter.com/MimeticValue/status/1032390092957016065 …

If intelligence is an emergent property of complex biological systems, then we can suspect that there ought to exist a SI unit (not IQ points) for intelligence that relates to physical phenomena, possibly based in neural network parameters and energy consumption ratios.

An IQ score is the z-score of the underlying intelligence raw score, but we don't even know how to measure the raw score, we just jump to the conclusion that it's valid to standardize the underlying dataset without knowing anything about the raw score itself.

This is the problem @nntaleb always talks about: Mediocristan vs Extremistan. IQ scores axiomatically assume that we live Mediocristan, yet there exists no evidence for this. Thus, IQ is an unfalsifiable model, since it's constructed to fit the model rather than describe reality.

Now IQ is positively correlated with education level, earnings, etc, and pretty significantly. Overall, it does a decent job of predicting if someone is intelligent or not. My problem is that people see it as an objective scientific measurement rather than a predictive model.

Idk, there are probably some cool members. But most who brag about their IQs seem to be overeducated communists or White Nationalists who wish to genocide supposedly lower IQ social classes or races.

Well, only people on the internet talk about IQ. I've never talked about IQ with anyone IRL. It's never been a topic that comes up.
