I think the term goes something like "Mixed strategies" actually, but not quite sure. Just vaguely remember it being a thing, and wonder if there are gradations/implementation variants of "the thing" Madman Theory would seem to be a radical IRL application of this approach

I'm sure that The Compleat Strategyst (https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/commercial_books/2007/RAND_CB113-1.pdf …) just uses the phrase mixed strategy but that book is ancient and I have not read more contemporary work.
