RE: repugnant conclusion,the way I think about it is comparing millions of nearly-utopian people on Earth vs. billions and billions of people in several space colonies on different planets with lifes barely (but definitely)worth living. Not clear to me latter is intuitively worse
I don't think it makes much sense to apply a consequentialist framework to a problem this large and this abstract. It really only works properly when you can limit the domain enough to have a meaningful and accurate utility function.
