got a link? my thoughts on Chapo are that they're just 30 something lefty versions of Rush Limbaugh. like Rush, they have been pushed by their audience towards ever more fringe extreme positions. they're competing for the fringes now.

I think its one thing to defend economic policies but if the most popular podcast was right wing and constantly stooped to defend fascism the press would be on fire

I honestly think we should just consider podcasts and talk radio shows to be identical forms of media. extreme right wing talk radio shows have been a thing for decades and they are regularly highlighted by MSM for their abhorrent near-fascist opinions.

the difference is they contort themselves to accuse dems of being the real fascists instead of contorting to defend fascism

yeah, there's some asymmetry. extreme right politics in America is much more in the ultra-libertarian strain than in the corporatist merger of state and business (Mussolinism) strain. actually the mainstream Democrats and Republicans are basically corporatist quasi-fascists.

the word fascist is overloaded with historical baggage of course so we probably shouldn't use it except for the historical use case. I'm not entirely sure what to call mainstream American corporatists, but it's clear where they stand in terms of policy and alignment.

"large firm fascism" maybe? idk the argument over it gets too polluted I dont try to bother wading into it anymore
