got a link? my thoughts on Chapo are that they're just 30 something lefty versions of Rush Limbaugh. like Rush, they have been pushed by their audience towards ever more fringe extreme positions. they're competing for the fringes now.
so "true communism has never been tried" is almost a correct statement. I say almost because I sincerely think that systems of this kind are not possible to implement while also preserving competence hierarchies. Inequality is emergent from competence hierarchies.

I'm amazed that 2018 leftists are just going right back to Leninism (or worse) though. One would hope they would try to learn from the history and start advocating entirely different remedies to inequality that were able to preserve competence hierarchies.

What “Communism” would entail (even in theory) is ill-defined. That’s on purpose - it’s supposed to arise as a synthesis via Hegelian dialectics. For an old-school Marxist, communism is something a society “discovers” as the dictatorship of the proletariat withers away.

Of course, plans that require dictators to acquire and then relinquish power are not well-suited to be implemented by actually existing human beings.
