He’s into politics, so he’s the one attached to suffering. I freely explore whatever ideas I want while upsetting these with attachments. That’s the point of zen. Joshu and Ikkyu were savage trolls who awaken the dogmatic through politically incorrect methods.

I bought the Joshu book on his recommendation. Holy fuckballs.... "savage troll" is almost an understatement. I used to think myself an accomplished shitposter. Then I read that book and realized I'd been beaten millennia ago.

I can guarantee that these who virtue signal about being mamby pamby have never read the primary sources of zen like Joshu, Ikkyu, Laozi and Zhuangzi. Yes the latter 2 are Taoists, but zen is Taoism enclosed in Buddhist bureaucracy.
