Lmao (& also, thread.) https://twitter.com/MikeRoach3/status/1015235089540829185 …
like, military planners must have some alternative ideas about what future air wars will actually consist of and they aren't saying. they can't honestly expect to be flying the F-35 in real combat situations. they know it will lose badly.

I'm not quite sure: if anything, the F-35 is the repository for all the dumb speculative future-war tech demo ideas. I also would like to believe there are people in charge with some level of big-picture understanding, but there are plenty of similar fuckups throughout history.
-
What if this is all a huge psyop, a misinformation campaign, what if the f-35 is so fucking amazing that they have to push counter narratives to keep us from shitting our pants.
-
like the F-35 is actually literally invisible when it wants to be and all this is counter-propaganda to keep us from realizing that after Trump blabbed re: its true capabilities
-
Also, it runs on human blood instead of jet fuel and it's piloted by the resurrected brains of founding fathers.
-
that's why they're only building a few of them! Only so many founding fathers to go around.
-
that's just the prototype. the production series is going to be a drone swarm centrally controlled from the preserved brain of Dick Nixon, which has been launched into orbit on a militarized satellite

feel like
@Aelkus or@zenpundit might have an actually informed opinion on this whereas I am merely practicing recreational paranoia what are we not seeing? -
I would love to read some counterpoint to all this, but everything I've seen makes me think this is just another thing like battleships or cavalry charges where institutional inertia rules until some actual peer-competitor war shows how wrong everyone's assumptions were
-
it is a multi-role fighter with a design that would naturally sacrifice performance in specific domains for overall versatility and as to close engagements i believe the intention is that those will be long over before it ever gets into the battlespace
-
this seems like a great example of just straight-up taunting fate re: Murphy's Law
-
oh and it can engage loads of targets simultaneously without human intervention
-
in theory it sounds really good but then you remember that these claims are being made about something that fails when evaluated via several really basic metrics, by said thing's manufacturer(s). IDK.
