I love seeing what attracts Chinese tourists to the West and vice versa. The Chinese like myths and obviously fantastical narratives. The brochures for Westerners are all “rich history”, “fascinating historic sites” and “unique culture”.https://www.virginholidays.co.uk/destinations/asia-and-far-east/china-tours …

I was thinking the presentation is myth-like. It’s more like Hollywood, stories about what you will do, rather than facts about what you’ll see. Maybe it’s different demographics targeted rather than cultures… I don’t know. Eg, this site, fairly typical: http://www.americaasia.com/Default.aspx?locale=en-US&RP=browse&catid=1 …

Myth about what you'll do: "luxurious elite guided tour to exclusive global attractions" Fact about what you'll see: "there are a lot of parking lots and gas stations. you will be lead around on foot following a minimum wage worker reading a script. exit through the gift shop."
