I worry that people I've never met will see a tweet like the one that sparked this thread, then write me off without knowing that it's inaccurate. That's a sad and scary thought

By the way, huge thanks to my friends who defended me. When I finally saw the tweet (I have this person blocked so it had to be pointed out to me) there were a bunch of
@eigenordinary-style replies. It made seeing the smear not feel as bad as it would have otherwise2 replies 1 retweet 33 likesShow this thread -
I don't have much of a conclusion. Just ~sharing my truth~ I guess

sorry you got caught up in the yesterday's shitstorm. fwiw I think you may have just been collateral damage in a psychic disturbance that worked its way through the hellsite. felt it pretty strongly even without looking for it.https://twitter.com/danlistensto/status/1009810268120109056 …

ok, going a little far out now: was it a psyop? did some agency pull the trigger on a memetic weapon yesterday? I think it could be done actually.

I have no evidence about yesterday specifically, but observing the trollbots on here over the past few years — they used to be laughably transparent. To assume that this technology has not been progressing would be a mistake.

yeah that's what I'm wondering about. if you wanted to drop a "drama bomb" how would you do it? find something sensitive, then in a coordinated fashion to enrage multiple factions with deep animus and put them at each others throats all at once.

if you did it right you could get amplification effects from setting off a critical threshold of, uh, personality-disordered tweeters. it would cascade through the whole social graph sending waves of discord and bad-feels around the globe in minutes.

so otherwise mostly sane people who might just be feeling irritable or edgy for whatever reason would get triggered and start tweeting dumb shit at people that they would otherwise have just ignored or left alone. positive feedback loop (of negativity/irritation) achieved.

not that it couldn't just happen organically but I'm kind of a recreational paranoiac so I feel like, no, it wasn't organic yesterday, felt provoked.

I have no doubt that such experiments are being carried out.

It's upsetting. These things do eventually break through to the material plane.
