so, unless you're trying to do this in the critical section loop of a performance sensitive piece of code I would be inclined to say "fuck that noise" and also "why are you using python then?" aesthetic preference for 42.str.len (Ruby-esque) over len(str(42)) maybe relevant
that's more characters and just as many nested functions deep
