Elementary school has possible benefits; Coca-Cola doesn't have long term negatives; television has minor consequences at best. Putting into law is a deterrent that works fairly well, and at the very least prevents it from being normalised.

It's very very hard to lose weight, much harder than avoiding gaining it in the first place. There is a lot of research about this. The insulin/weight-gain/hedonic treadmill is real and scary.
