OPINION: America would be in a significantly less fucked up place if California and Washington had a proportional amount of power in government compared to their population.

i really know nothing about US history other than 'people came over, people weren't happy with tax, people made big cuppa in boston harbour, ... bad country exists'
-
it's not a bad country it's a complicated country that is currently paralyzed from solving the problems of its bad people in positions of power. bad things were done in the past. its a tragic history but we're moving forward.
-
i mean i've had a bit to drink now so maybe this isn't perfectly coherent but oh well, I just really have always thought the way the US operates is a terrible affront to the way i think things should work
-
it's very hard to understand our contradictions unless you've lived here. we're both the best and the worst of what humanity has to offer. freedom and slavery. love and hate. wealth and poverty. we do it all.

i dont like walmart
-
nobody likes walmart but I challenge you to beat those low low prices.
-
like walmart is emblematic of the problems with america for me, too big, too confusing (it took me 15 mins to find disposable razors) and too coporate
-
yeah thats about right. the prices are low because of economies of scale and labor exploitation. the former is good the latter is bad. labor exploitation can be partially ameliorated through well-crafted redistributive policy though.
