OPINION: America would be in a significantly less fucked up place if California and Washington had a proportional amount of power in government compared to their population.

implement ranked choice voting. implement 2 week long voting periods and universal ballot-by-mail. implement automatic voter registration upon 18th birthday.
-
Why not ballot-by-email, instead? Seems safer.
-
whatever. why not both? as long as it can be secured and verified.
-
Mail isn't really easy to secure or verify.
-
tamper-evident seals on envelopes and forgery-evident elements in ballot slips (similar to what's used in paper currency) should do it.
-
You can always take them out of a person's mailbox, fill them out, wait until after they check their mail, put the letter back, flip the mail flag up and wait, though.
-
tamper evident seals! that's why you need them. the ballot is distributed in a sealed envelope that contains a return envelope with a new seal.
-
So couldn't you just take that out of their mailbox, too?

Keep the Senate, reapportion the house, draw districts algorithmically to minimize perimeter length and cap size at 50,000, make the new 6000 Congresspeople debate & vote exclusively Online
-
congress debate online will look like? hopefully not twitter
-
what if i told you it already does (at least in terms of how informed and thorough the analysis is)
-
i have no clue what US debate looks like, I read something about babies being allowed in so it must not be very serious
-
do you mean like congressional debates or just generic cultural debates? the cultural debates basically look like twitter except sometimes there's a TV debate between candidates so that's kinda like pro wrestling but more boring.
-
the debates on the floor of congress don't actually exist. they don't actually decide how to vote in congress, they have a party line, or are bought by lobbyists or whatever. the only thing they do in the building there is fillibuster.
-
this seems like an inefficient use of real estate
-
it really is. they should convert it into a bouncy castle or a petting zoo.
