is this what people need for their spiritual development? to feel like they're worthless shit, covered in sin? well, there it is. the Christian roots of our culture follow us everywhere we go. Beg forgiveness and may the gods have mercy on your soul.

I'm not about to tell anyone what they should do for their spiritual development. That's personal stuff and I'm strictly non-prophet. I wouldn't make this choice though. I've had some uplifting experiences that have restored my positive regard of myself and the world.

It can be done! There's a way to use psychedelics as a ritual sacrament that doesn't involve the spirits telling you how much they fuckin hate you for the crimes of your ancestors and the emptiness of your modern life.

all I'm really saying is "set and setting" matters. we already know this. maybe pick a set and setting that sets you up for something more productive than being called out on a metaphysical level.

Lots to say about this if it's anything like you're describing, but the espresso has just started to kick in so I need to work. Will see if I can bookmark for later.
-
I'd love to hear your take on this. Looking forward to reading it if/when you get around to it.

Probably just be a series of tweets. Short version is I got most of my early attainment off a left-hand path stuff. There were some... side-effects. This stuff sounds kind of comparable. If so, it's not simply "not optimal"; it's malicious.
-
someone was kind enough to warn me early on before I got far enough to seriously hurt myself. middle-path has really become an important (and quite literal) method for me.
-
I went just far enough to get into near-total self-destruction. Good thing, too. I did some serious personality upgrades since then, in large part out of sheer desperation.
-
The bigger, more persistent issue (assuming you don't have a secular life worth preserving) is the moral hazard. People who get enlightened on this path? They're usually fairly monstrous.
-
So fair enough, you can get all the attainment you want (and teh magicx), but if all it does is make you Very Comfortable with your own darkest self... ... I don't know that that's really an improvement.
-
Anyway, none of that is exactly what this is about. I'll get around to it later, though.
