Chapter 1 from my book Next Generation AI is finished. Those who read it, liked it. This is good, as I need that kind of encouragement. The chapter is entitled "Can machines be intelligent?" and the answer is something like "Yes, but...". I already start…

Here, a painting inspired by my theory on how the brain works. I keep being surprised how my scientific work inspires artists. First it was ideasthesia, now it is practopoiesis. You can also buy the painting. It is a bargain.

I officially started writing my book on AI. The title of the book is "Next generation AI". I have been in talks with two publishers. The table of contents already seems to convince. See below. I estimate it will take one year to complete. Wish me luck.

Here is a list of my favorite fundamental concepts relevant for understanding mind, brain and intelligence. I explain the importance of each in a couple of sentences. Did I miss something?

Yesterday, I spent a good part of the day studying capsule networks--a new type of neural networks invented by G. Hinton. Fascinating.

Here is an explaination of the concept of Adaptive Traverse. In my opinion nothing is more fundament in order to understand how the brain works:

Imagine if, due to the COVID-19, the year 2020 becomes the first one in long time that the CO2 levels and the global temperature went down. Wouldn’t that be something?

This could be an unexpected key experiment for climate science. The experiment could prove (or disprove) that we are the cause of global warming. It could also give us the numbers needed to assess what needs be done to contain the global warming problem.

My hope is that the economical slowdown from corona virus will produce measurable effects on the global warming problem: The reduction in traffic and industry should reduced CO2 emission, which could then have detectable effects on global temperature.

A week ago I visited Savannah College of Art and Design or SCAD for short. They delighted me with the creativity levels that I have seen in class projects. I enjoyed talking to the students. Also, I gave a few talks. I hope my talks were helpful to them too.

Funny thing: if neurons in the brain were truly intelligent like some smart agents, the experiments we normally design in neuroscience would utterly obscure this. So what kind of experiments do we need to run to detect this intelligence? Here my answer:

I just published a blog post on how we can design new types of experiments to investigate whether biological neurons contain intelligence that exceeds that assumed by classical theory. Happy experimenting:
