How would we feel about Microsoft buying npm Inc. and merging the official npm registry into GitHub's new package registry? I reckon I'd be down with it now tbh

I don't think npm is as sticky as they perhaps wish they were. Migrating packages to something open and better could happen very quickly, and the new package manager could (maybe) pull anything it didn't have from npm until migration was complete.

Yep Daniel. Reminds me of Sourceforge, you are right about the Linux Foundation, less prone to enterprise PnL swings.
