If any Cocoa Mac developer friends have insights about putting a window into split full screen mode, I’m all ears! https://forums.developer.apple.com/message/72822#72822 …

@danielpunkass maybe allow preview window to be a browser? Then just tell the user you recommend them using it in split full screen?

@sebbean Thanks but that wouldn’t work at all. MarsEdit is intensely involved in the rendering of the preview web view content.

@danielpunkass yea figured there was some logic in there. Guessing it's not something you could trivially replicate with js

@sebbean It’s that it is constantly updating as you type. It’s not something I could convey repeatedly to a browser in any satisfactory way.

@danielpunkass I'm guessing it's a web view? But your not calling reload on it? Are you manually manipulating the DOM from cocoa?

        @sebbean Yep!

@danielpunkass seems like a pretty interesting problem space - always been fascinated by the cocoa/js-DOM membrane

@sebbean My preview is pretty amazing as it is, thanks to having put some time into this years ago.

@danielpunkass Refactor your Preview window & edit window controllers into a view controllers and combine them in full screen mode.

@gte Yeah, seems like a smart choice. Thanks. Trying to hard to fight the system...

@danielpunkass I know it's a pain but I do think it's the right way to go.

@gte Yep, this is actually on my wish list for 4.x, but was hoping for a cheap fix in 3.x.

@danielpunkass Ah. The bail in the feature maybe. Better to do it right than waste time getting a hack in place.

@gte Yeah, I’m just going to fix a few glaring issues in 3.x, and add the rest to the 4.x list.

@danielpunkass What about addChildWindow + subscribing to resize/position notifications?

      2. Daniel Jalkut ‏@danielpunkass 9 Oct 2015

@matt_sven I don’t think this will cause the child window to be placed into a tiled full screen split. Do you?

@danielpunkass I don't think you'll be able to just call a method have OS X split screen the window(s) for you

      5. Daniel Jalkut ‏@danielpunkass 9 Oct 2015

@matt_sven Thanks, I don’t think it’s likely either. I’m not looking for an approximation though, I’m curious about using the bona fide mode

@danielpunkass Your suggested workaround seems more desirable anyway.

@ragfield Probably. Well, maybe I’ll make that a long term ambition and try to find something acceptable for shorter term.
