Access to iCloud Drive by non-MAS apps may be more open than I previously thought. I’m intrigued.

@danielpunkass Any folder created on it has a filesystem location and if you put files there, they sync. Tried with cp (i.e. no iCloud API).

@vslavik Yep, cool. Sounds like something for me to look into for sure.

@danielpunkass @rosyna Seems like if you access anything on iCloud Drive w/o NSDocument, you have to wrap everything with file coordinators?

@mjtsai @danielpunkass @rosyna Sounds right. File coordination is Apple’s shared files access solution. NSDocument just does it for you.

@mmunz @mjtsai @danielpunkass File Coordination would still solve the problems it is meant to solve. But I don't think it is special-cased.

@rosyna @mmunz @danielpunkass So you're saying file coordination wouldn't know that a file/folder is pending, only when in progress?

@mjtsai @mmunz @danielpunkass Yeah, I don't think it has been updated with much smarts for ubiquity-specific logic.

@rosyna @mmunz @danielpunkass Too bad. At least with Dropbox you can tell from the menu bar whether it’s done.

@mjtsai @mmunz @danielpunkass iCloud drive (whatever udb was renamed to in Yosemite) would still mark a file as busy during transfer.

@rosyna @mmunz @danielpunkass Right, but you have to check each file's individual icon, and no support for packages.
