    I am rarely as convinced that an Apple move is bad as I am with paid App Store placement. It defies my understanding of Apple's values.

        I've spent 20+ years putting my heart and soul into the company, as an employee and indie developer. The highs are great but the lows sting.

        Also, I know it's not healthy to devote one's professional life to a company, but here we are. I liked what they were doing when I was 18…

        … and in most ways I like what they're doing now even more. Loving Apple is the cloest thing I have to religion, next to criticizing Apple.

        That little rant culminated in the cloest I got to a typo-free tweet in ages.

        @danielpunkass we did karaoke in some sort of an arcade. It was very peculiar.

        @Carbamide Ah yes, that whole Universal Studios theme "town" was weird, indeed!

        Apple has access to all the most pertinent signals to improve search for users, yet they will sell out top placement to financial interests.

        @danielpunkass but if the apps that pay suck and get bad reviews then it will be for naught. I fail to we how this hurts users.

        @peterjfoti They'll just keep paying, and getting bad reviews, as long as they show up #1 in the results.

        @danielpunkass bad reviews usually mean app deletion. Seems like a losing game for them. Can't sustain that forever. IMO.

        @peterjfoti Deletion? Have you seen how many shitty apps are on the app store? :)

        @danielpunkass right. And they bury good apps that have a hard time with discovery. Paid suggestions solve that.

        @peterjfoti ONLY if they beat a "more pertinent" payer. I'll be really curious to see how this plays out.

        @danielpunkass This is not the Apple you knew. It has changed.

        @Fahrni Of course it has, but I'm still fighting/hoping for the best. Same with my country, and other affiliations I care about.

        @danielpunkass It's nice to know you can admit it's not the Apple of lore. It will go through its rich period, contract, and stabilize.

        @danielpunkass Apple is a multi-billion dollar company. It doesn't have any values, apart from making money.

        @designingcode I completely disagree.
