I’ve gone to lengths to preserve "traditional" Mac behavior in MarsEdit’s rich editor, then I see Pages defies it!pic.twitter.com/XwdO10b7Yz

So now I’m really curious what people think about this "greedy" style behavior. Is Pages at the forefront or bowing to MS Word expectations?

I confirmed that at least MS Word online has the same "greedy" formatting behavior. https://onedrive.live.com/

@danielpunkass Most of my frustration with Windows is when actions (like that one) don't apply to the selection. Drives me nuts.

@olofhellman It’s off-putting to me but in this particular scenario I’m warming up to the idea. Seems uncommon to shift styles mid-word.

@danielpunkass does that happens at the end/ beginging of a word too? If yes sucks otherwise I think is a cool feature IMHO.

@Razvn No, only in the middle of a word. Yeah, it has some advantages.

      3. Razvan ‏@Razvn Apr 12

@danielpunkass then looks like a nice feature. Why would you change to bold in the middle of a word?

@Razvn Right. Well, probably not too often. But those want to have been used to doing it one way for 30 years.

@danielpunkass that closes the door to evolutions or new new things. Maybe a setting if you’re afraid to angry them and want support both.

@danielpunkass And I thank you for that, but then again, I’m an old-school fart.

@danielpunkass I wasn't aware of this greedy style but I almost like it better. CMD B is as both a modifier AND a mode switcher otherwise.

@danielpunkass I haven’t seen that behavior in word 2010 or previous. But I like this conceptually.
