There are so many things wrong with the analogy between poverty and lack of sex, but the thing is, even if you buy it, the goal of anti-poverty programs is to get people not to need them anymore.

Progressives are against putting hard limits on use of the social safety net not because they want people to be poor forever, but because of evidence that cutting people off at their neediest exacerbates the conditions of poverty and makes it harder to ever become stable.

So like, if the incel welfare argument is going to be predicated on our anti-poverty programs, even in an imaginary world where our anti-poverty programs aren't mostly conservatively designed around shame and limited choice and hard limits and meaningless hoops to jump through,

they would be about training. So like, if incel welfare is about free therapy for anxiety and depression that make it hard to meet people, and free arts and culture to make dates more interesting, and free style consultants/gym memberships for people insecure about appearances,

and free sex ed with an emphasis on being a good partner, sure, whatever, let's all have that, but like, most of the self-identified incel men would not take advantage of any of that because it's not a movement about self-improvement or seeking help.
