Very weird seeing people on the TL claiming “no one” knew the Iraq War was bullshit and remembering very clearly how actual teenagers definitely did

My high school had a pep rally with US vs Iraq. BUT AND a bunch of kids showed up as protesters. We were fully aware.

I protested in high school. I wasn’t injured but my Black (younger) teen friend (I’m white, which is why it was her not me) was thrown to the ground by cops for just trying to exit the protest area to go home for curfew. Here’s a photo I took.pic.twitter.com/1rGGpXnorU

Right! I knew it was total bullshit when I was 22 & I didn’t understand why adults two and three times my age seemed to be ignoring the obvious

Hi, yes, I was 31 and my hubby and I kept ranting about the bullshit reasons to invade Iraq, and what a nightmare the Patriot Act would be. My friends and family were the same. No one I knew personally thought we had any business invading Iraq.
