The Borgel cemetery also contains the grave of the Jewish Tunisian star of stage and screen, Habiba Msika, who was brutally murdered by her former lover in 1930. A period of national mourning followed.

The Monument aux Morts lists the Tunisian Jews who fought and died for France in WW1 & WW2. It also contains monuments to commemorate those Jews who died while undertaking forced labour during the Nazi Occupation of Tunisia and those deported to European camps by air in 1943

25 Tunisian tour guides are visiting a number of important sites related to the history of the Jews of Tunisia. First up is the necropolis of Gammarth. This 4th century burial ground, containing the remains of c. 3000 Jews, was only discovered in the 19th century 🇹🇳
