hmm where is this from - I find this suspect lol
The rise of the Internet makes sense. But what caused that spike in people meeting at bars/restaurants starting in ~2000?
I’ve see people suggest that’s mostly what people answer who don’t want to admit they met in an app/online.
* increased genetic diversity * lower rates of divorce * death of social media * online is no longer a distinction
great list: also * shorter duration of marriage (because initiated much later) * lower fertility rates
The bar/restaurant growth is fascinating as well.
Thought the same thing. And then thought that’s probably the response you’d choose if you were embarrassed to have met someone online. Doesn’t confirm my suspicion, but the inflection point in the mid 2000s and growth rate is nearly identical to “met online”
I feel like this conclusion is way overstated for what this chart actually shows.
