Round to 90 percent of $GOOG market cap? It's why Brin and Page hired Schmidt.

Was hiring Schmidt 90% of Google's market cap?
-
GOOG up 25x since IPO, and Schmidt joined 3 years before. Without Schmidt, does Google still beat Bing? Does Android beat Windows Phone?
-
Not obvious to me the answers to those is no. Would be curious to see people debate that. My default answer without seeing much data/arguments is that with the massive cash generator that search has been for them--hard for me to say would be 10% current value without Schmidt

What's Google's search moat though? Product quality? That requires dedicated eng effort to maintain, and Brin and Page were struggling to run org at 500 person scale

The initial question to this response took a turn I did not expect

Depends on if you subtract massive distraction and lower productivity in the weeks before and after
-
Also subtract carbon emissions for all those RVs and trucks

Always skeptical about broad economic impact estimates due to lack of good controls. Cant know what would have happened without the event...possible participants would have done other more productive things. Who knows!

Remove all RV rentals on the west coast (if you've gone you know the nearest place to rent one that week is Colorado) + average food x population then do some weird calculation of your Twitter impressions dropping x time spent per impression x average wage of an engineer in SF
