Small shop owners would love this. Better than Wi-Fi due to instant speed. Could become the hottest spot in town.

The killer app for most people, like it or not, is communication, not information. Most people would rather have chat than Wikipedia.
-
Thankfully chat takes little data. There’s a different constriction: scalably providing inspiring people to talk to. Twitter is one scalable solution for this. I’m hopeful
@pioneerdotapp will be another. - 1 more reply

There are versions of this for hard drives of pirated movies in certain regions with limited internet access
-
Not just movies - Byjus in India shipped SD cards to paying customers of their lessons, & Google distributed their SDKs using DVDshttps://venturebeat.com/2014/12/02/google-pilots-offline-developer-kit-on-dvds-for-internet-challenged-regions/ …

I think we should stick with air dropped medicine and food, personally.
-
Doesn't have to be one or the other. Open access to information/data is key for developing countries.
-
I don't disagree, but airdropping a TB of youtube in e.g. India seems like a poor strategy for decreasing costs of access to information in one of the world's most expensive places for it. Vastly higher chance eqiv $ grub and meds achieve this in a long run.
-
Food and meds are just a bandaid. Education has a far larger impact at a fraction of the cost.
-
Dude, airdropping tape drives in by the TB is not education.
-
There's structured learning *as well as* a will to know more. If you seek to learn something on your own, where do you typically end up? YouTube, Wikipedia, etc....
-
What happens when curious humans are able to learn? Innovation.
