What do you think about when you want to relax the brain before you fall asleep?

Sometimes I try to remember each of the best meals I have ever enjoyed, in sequential order. Sometimes I make Siri read me Kindle books. The robot monotone is a fantastic soporific (and I make progress reading my books.)

A trick I learned from a @Headspace meditation track was to actually review your whole day in sequential order from beginning to end in mundane detail without dwelling on anything. I am usually asleep well before "lunch".

As a kid, my mom used to put me to sleep exactly this way.

I tense and relax every muscle group starting with my toes and working my way up. At some point I roll over on my side and conk out.

There's an art to not thinking about anything. Also to not letting music keep playing in your head on repeat.

My breathing. I try to slow it down as much as possible, lengthen it, and sometimes focus on counting my breaths.

This might sound weird.. but I try to picture in my head a white sheet of paper.. it usually does the trick within 5-8 minutes of visualizing it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I read bedtime story books with the kids. It is the best thing ever! Not sure why we stop reading them as we grow up but I sleep way better now and life feels so good in fairytale land :)

I meditate with the Simple Habit app before going to sleep. It helps in calming down the robust monkey mind. Also, thanks for sharing with us at Internapalooza yesterday! I'd love a copy of the Finite and Infinite Games book if it's convenient for you!

That digitalization of the brain and putting it into the cloud means death - conscious isn't preserved, it's an illusion running on brain wetware. So each time you go asleep "you" die to be initialized again when you wake up (or don't)
