    This is a misreading of my story. It tried to capture the moment of Sanders’ caucus night party, and how he didn’t get his potential prime-time victory speech etc., which, yes, was disappointing to Sanders’ aides and allies. Wrt performance, I say he’s in close race for 1st.

    I'm seeing stories characterize Bernie's performance in IA as having been disappointing, which I think is the wrong characterization, but goes to show you how "expectations" matter and how media narratives are sometimes out of line with reality. 1/x

    If Bernie wins popular vote, Buttigieg wins the most state delegate equivalents, and the two win an equal number of pledged delegates, then it will be journalistic malpractice to call Buttigieg the winner. That's not moving goal posts, it's the whole point of releasing more data.
