an illision that takes more than 300msec to generate shows that filling in CANNOT occur during normal vision. Takes too long.

There are, as has been repeatedly shown, many kinds of filling in. That of after- images is diff from that of blindspot etc.

illusory conjunction was treisman's term for it. An orphaned color binds to a handy shape. Binding is fast spreading is not.
