It is thanks to determinism that you can do what you want, for this "you" is a program in the brain that does what it wants provided the machine follows its orders.

This idea of “self control” is, roughly, a system that can modify outputs depending on variable inputs. This exactly defines a lot of deterministic systems such as AI. But if AI isn’t actually free, how are we?
