I do not think they have shame. The @GOP project for along time has been ending democracy and the rule of law, in order to place the largest bulwark they could around White Supremacy, subjugation of women, and their wealth and privilege.
It's WAY too late for any Republicans in Congress to emerge as patriots or heroes; their only hope now is to be forgiven by their friends for their dishonorable and craven self-interest, when they come to their senses and abandon Trump. I do not agree: Many in the Republican Party are appalled by your list; they see themselves as pro-family values, America first, anti-war, Pro-Jobs...they would “feel sad” for those who are other. They are good people.The Left needs to stop demonizing them. I am not a Republican.

I, for one, am willing to forgive and push past but we are going to need to see some contrition and acknowledgement of their craven behavior.

@davidfrum has a good line on this: "When this is all over, nobody will admit to ever having supported it." Unfortunately I fear the vast majority will merely say it prevented Hillary becoming president and that justifies everything.

t this point, the productive thing is to thank any Republican who parts ways from Trump and supports his removal from office. Reason and pragmatism should override justified anger and hasty retribution, if we are to not only get rid of Trump, but defang Trumpism. 1/2

2/2 there is a time and place for reckoning. Now is not that time. Now is the time to welcome and encourage the critical votes needed, especially in the Senate - and, to take the air out of the potential for violence and to build public support to dump Trump.
