    Today I told my class that working class/poor students are less likely to know rules can be bent, and less likely to ask to bend them, or for other kinds of help, and I got an email from a sophomore saying that helped her make sense of why her first year was so hard.

    If you've updated to macOS Mojave and are annoyed by not being able to use Terminal to cd, ls, etc. in parts of your own home directory, you just need to add Terminal to the new "Whole Disk Access" list in Security & Privacy System Preferences.

    Today, the folks at had the difficult job of announcing an increase in their transfer fees. It’s rare to see a company handle such an announcement straight-forward, with honesty and no marketing BS. 👏🏼

    Think about how many times you’ve used and UIColor.white for the same purpose. In views, layers, attributed strings, etc. Dealing with all those is going to be tough.

    This change is likely to be much more disruptive on iOS because macOS has had semantic colors forever. You use NSColor.labelColor to make sure the label has good contrast against a .windowBackgroundColor.

    PSA: Apple recognizes which domains you have been browsing and shows apps associated with that domain instead of the actual domain in Screen Time, including apps you don't even own. /cc

    Good thread.

    So since I'm in North Carolina right now, let me explain the way corporate farming (which this is about) works here. The district I'm in (NC-7) is one of the biggest hog producing areas on the country. But it's not a case of small family farms raising hogs they sell to WalMart

    It's not typical, but some folks have bought Bullet Train to rebuild their MVP on a better featured (or better looking) foundation. One founder from earlier this year just shared that after relaunch their trial-to-paid conversion doubled, visitor-to-trial 📈 50% and churn 📉 50%.

    Because I want a pixel-perfect launch image for a 3D-rendered UI, and asset catalogs don't have available variants for every device (like the different iPad screen sizes). I'm not going to settle for a splash screen with a logo when I can do much better
