This happens to everyone one of my videos. I’ve been ghosted by YouTube. I’ve taken a break because it feels utterly pointless to spend hours on something that doesn’t get seen

Content creators should not trust YouTube. You need to build your own databases & email lists of viewers. You can announce your new content confidently and measure response via email. Like a business, treat audience data like it's your number one asset.

Lots of people just like the ease of going to sub boxes & methodically scrolling through the people they’ve followed, when they sit down having decided they want to watch videos. Emails get missed & forgotten. It’s a very valid point but might not fit into peeps YouTube habits.

I completely understand you just want YouTube to work as it should - but it isn't. This is an alternative that would allow you continue building your (awesome) work without feeling (as) disheartened about it not being seen.

Very true. Will definitely give it some thought. Just because I’d ignore those sort of emails doesn’t mean everyone else would

You'd see a 20-40% open rate and even higher if you branded it around a weekday i.e. 'Upload Sundays'. Send it when people are commiting or after dinner. Mailchimp will let you resend to non-openers with a few taps.
