    Wow! Who knew that the governor could make laws all by himself? He can't. The Legislature passed these laws, overwhelmingly. He did sign the bills.

    Because driving a car is equivalent to speech...

    ***putting my former autos reporter hat on*** — Cars are ~heavily~ regulated, down to the color of the blinker, & regularly tested for safety problems. That industry also needed to be -shoved- into mandating seat belts & other safety features despite knowing they’d save lives.

    This framing is astonishing. It's not a labor shortage. It's one company paying a halfway decent wage and others refusing -- in an alleged market economy -- to compete.

    A number of Charlotte employers I've talked to about labor shortages have mentioned losing workers to one common competitor: Amazon. Can be hard for small local employers to compete when Amazon offers a $15/hr min wage, benefits and a $1,000 signing bonus.
