@dancounsell I’m working on a draft, but: what about the Apple/game route? Lower the per-app price, no upgrades, each version is separate.

@chartier we’ve seen that that doesn’t work. Developers loose out big time, you’re essentially starting again on the store. No reviews, etc. -
@dancounsell Seems to work for games. But they also do marketing blitzes that I think a lot of indies just aren’t aware of/used to. - View other replies

@chartier Games and Apps are different. Users are happy to pay for Game 2.0 But not App 2.0 - You know this… - View other replies

@dancounsell I’ve seen it, but I don’t think we’ve exhausted our options for trying it. Lot to play with here. -
@chartier All I know is that direct upgrades work better (for Apps) than anything I’ve seen so far.

@dancounsell unfortunately, I don't think paid upgrades will ever happen - IMO, trials are even more important (not happening, either). - View other replies

@dancounsell@noelchenier A collection of the top indie developers (@realmacsoftware,@OmniGroup,@panic,@flexibits etc etc). -
@milend I think something tectonic will have to happen before we see noticeable positive policy changes. //@dancounsell@noelchenier -
@siegel@milend@noelchenier If we band together and make enough noise, I think we can get Apple support us. I have hope. - View other replies

@dancounsell@milend@noelchenier I don't think it's so much about banding together. The voices are being heard, it's a q'n of priorities. - View other replies

@dancounsell Have a built-in alert/messaging mechanism to tell existing users about the new version and send them to the store. -
@chartier Same problem as before. Also, user may not have the app installed or is using it anymore. - View other replies

@dancounsell So for an example: Most folks probably wouldn’t pay $50 each for Ember 3, 4, 5. But $25 or $30? I wonder. -
@chartier but the developer gets punished for releasing a new apps. Plus Sandboxing issues. New SKU each time is not an option. -
@dancounsell This is so utterly frustrating. I really want to find a solution, I wish@pschiller or@cue would at least say something. - View other replies

@chartier@dancounsell I’m still hoping they’ve had a skunkworks project to completely replace the existing backend. And when that…
