Inheritance tax should be the most progressive of taxes. But the wealthy have become so adept at avoiding it that it now imposes a higher burden on middle class estates than on the very wealthy. It's time to act. Me in (chart from OTS)

I know it's Brexit eve but if anyone feels like taking a break, this is one of the best videos I've seen in a while. An old soldier talks to a young one about war, perception, hatred and loss 1/2

Dictionaries have literally begun to include "figuratively" or "metaphorically," as one of the definitions of "literally." I kid you not. The world needs The Orwelexicon.

This is precisely what the U.S. Ambassador's Advisors told him two Years ago, in this famous C4 Documentary ... "that's not inflation from a growing, bubbly Economy, but from an outside shock ..."

God, this is just brilliant. And why so rare? Thoughtful, original, honest and brave. The best and most important piece you’ll read for a long time. If I had the balls or talent, I’d like to think one day I might write something half as good

Twitter tells me Britain is engulfed by racism New research tells me that the vast majority of the foreign-born population feel that Britain is hospitable or welcoming for migrants & over 90% say migrants can get ahead if they work hard. Source: Oxford Migration Observatory

Today I took the kids to see ‘Place Jo Cox’ in Brussels in the area Jo used to go drinking &dancing when she lived here. The kids were really touched& then ran around the place madly playing with friends. Exactly how she would like them to be. Thanks to all who made it happen.

2.7m applications made and 2.5m already approved. Just SIX rejected (serious criminals). And yet from the hysterical coverage of this over three years you'd think the UK govt had been rounding up EU nationals and dumping them in the sea.

One of the problems with this area is the availability and quality of land price data. It's crap! (and before you start pointing me to the ONS land value data, you need to understand the difference between the value of land and the cost of land )
