She had every right to shoot the intruder since her and her baby’s lives were both in danger. Doesn’t matter if she’s had felony charges in the past for marijuana. Just because you’re not allowed to possess firearms, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be allowed to defend yourself

“A pregnant woman who shot and killed an intruder who attacked her in her Arkansas home is facing felony gun possession charges -- even though authorities ruled that the shooting was justified -- due to a prior marijuana conviction.”

I thought we had a right to defend ourselves if we feared for our safety. Clearly the Lady felt she was in danger for her life. The intruder was in her home. This is wrong. If we can't defend ourselves in our home, then when do we defend ourselves.

Absolutely. .. she should not be prosecuted at all! This is absolutely ridiculous!!

Ok so let's simplify this. If intruder would have NEVER came to her home this would have NEVER have happened. Simple enough!

Wow. I'm sorry but in your own home if there is a gun it's a no brainer that you should be able to protect yourself & property.

Her husband has the right to own firearms. Decent attorney should have this thrown-out, especially in Arkansas.

Insane is an understatement. What's she supposed to? Let him kill her and her baby? Then we'd be saying she had access to a gun, why didn't she defend herself? Very different conversation. Just makes no sense.

I do think it's a stupid move on the DA's office to charge her when she did it to save her & her unborn baby's life; however she did break the law... Felon in possession of a firearm... It's sad, I hope they drop the charges..

Dan, this is going to be one hot legal issue. The more states are licensing medical marijuana, I believe we are going to see cases pop up since owning a gun is unlawful after receiving med pot certificates. So, a disabled person using pot legally can't defend themselves.

So because she had a conviction for pot she should be raped or killed? Legalizing pot reduces work for police & courts. It increases revenue for states. It works. She shouldn't be punished for protecting herself in her own home.

Dan, you are well informed and certainly have encountered the assbackwards nature of criminal laws across this country. Unfortunately, for 30+ years politicians have ran on a platform of hard on crime and decided to codify every "criminal" act possible. This is the result.
