I understand that some justices may not like it, but their work is too important to keep making weak excuses for not televising proceedings.https://twitter.com/cspan/status/1012836909041631233 …

Chief Justice Roberts on whether the time has come to televise Supreme Court oral arguments: "No...Television changes a lot...It has the potential of hurting the Court." Dan, I am curious, how do you think this would improve their decision making? Do you feel they would vote differently? Would public opinion be a concern for them more than it is now if televised? Again, just curious

Bad idea! While there was a nobleness to broadcast tv and journalism, it is largely gone. We need our best work to be done behind closed doors, like any other closed session, and trust in it. The Highsst Court is not a popularity or reality show, It’s our government.

SCOTUS is too important to be under live media scrutiny. We don't need lawyers grandstanding, media, or wacko protest groups trying to influence a court decision. That happens enough already without reacting to live proceedings. Not to mention did anyone ever watch CourtTV?

He doesn't want lawyers and justices playing to the cameras. And given that we'll never see the behind-the-scenes deliberations, I'm not sure cameras will make anything better.

I disagree. Keep it on the text and the law. We can listen to the audio live and read the transcripts later.

I don’t know, Dan. I understand the sentiment. But the grandstanding I see during Congressional hearings would be even more unsettling coming from SCOTUS. I’d like to believe it wouldn’t happen, but I fear it would. Judge Judy, however, agrees with you!https://youtu.be/3lGqVvuBCAs
