This is the only part that feels wrong: the jargon. Hooks are cool but is not anymore a method of a class with a super declarative clear name. It's a trade off

I see. Also I try to think how it would feel if React would have always had hooks and change to "componentDidUpdate" methods etc. It would feel a step backwards
