I’ve worked at OkayAfrica for three years and have witnessed and can corroborate everything that my former colleagues and current friends have stated.

I stand firmly by @AntoinetteIsama, @kokothenut, @ivieani,@ABisi123, @seenahgee, @ThatgirlXanan and any other Black woman who have been abused by Abiola’s “leadership” practices.

I can attest to having been on the receiving end of it as recently as two weeks ago when he, along with two other members of executive leadership berated me on a call for voicing concerns about the treatment of Black employees to the company’s white investors.

I say this to say that what my friends and former colleagues expressed aren’t just issues of the past. They happen within the company to this day. The fact that Abiola has still not spoken out publicly is disappointing, and I can no longer be complicit in his actions.

I’ve stayed on because I believe very deeply in the work, the uniqueness of the space, and the right to protect my livelihood. Niggas gotta eat.

For a long time I’ve managed to remove myself from daily interactions with Abiola, but the effects of his unfit leadership have taken a toll on my morale and mental well-being.
