It’s remarkable to see the prosecutors of LA County in open rebellion against their boss, DA Gascon. These deputy district attorneys want to follow the law. Gascon wants them to follow his dictates. A judge just ruled for the deputy DAs.https://abc7.com/george-gascon-lawsuit-prosecutors-los-angeles-county/10322037/ …

Central to the ruling is that Gascon is abusing prosecutorial discretion by abandoning case-by-case judgements in favor of sweeping policy changes. If Gascon wants to change the law, let him go through the legislative process. DAs should not have this much power.

Interestingly, the only reason we’re not seeing this kind of rebellion in SF is that LA County prosecutors have civil service protection. SF prosecutors don’t, allowing Chesa Boudin to purge and silence his opponents within the department. That should change.

the things @chesaboudin stands for but we truly lost our way. The implementation of our progressive wishes is ineffective and misguided.
