But the fake XP actually does want to work, which is sometimes nice to experience. That’s the thing about these silly video games. They want you to beat them. They literally say so. Only source of positive feedback in a lot of people’s lives. That is absolutely what’s going on.
Of course, all this is from my vantage point, and I concede thoroughly that I’m a strange (though well-intentioned) actor in this play.
