    Gallant realizes his field is doing it wrong, tells everyone, heh, we’re doing it wrong. Goofus dunks on him for ever doing it wrong. But Gallant will have better anthropology (really, assumption testing) tomorrow while Goofus will still suck at data science soooo nice p value

    I hadn’t been looking at the details of the various Struts attacks. This seems to be the intersection of developers sick and tired of split brain front end and back end, and security not fully auditing real world deployments. My “hot take” is “no anonymous struts” but thinking.

    It's done. I ran for Board president, got elected, and brought in a locally-owned ISP to get Comcast out of my entire condo building. New ISP provides increments of 100Mbps symmetric for $5 a tier; starts at $20. Low income (and all) residents are ecstatic.

    They usually want to privatize public utilities, at some pretty significant discount, so I guess they’re angling for cheap stock?

    Conservatives want to run internet companies as "public utilities." I don't even think public utilities should be run as public utilities.

    Also, emotional states, from audio, video, and photos. And we can do all this at scale. Google did. Probably not just them, but I’ll appreciate the public example. This is Good. Protecting children is what adults *do*.

    This is amazing, those developers are absolute heroes, sounds like the major advance is that before we could only detect a repeat event, while this code can do initial flagging. We in fact have capabilities around 3D scene recovery, absolute spatial metrics, and age estimation.

    What about sweetcorn? Well, the sweetcorn we know today is essentially a post war discovery. It’s a random mutation, discovered in a batch of mutant maize strains sourced largely by exposing bags of the seeds to nuclear bomb tests in the South Pacific. 🌽 💣🏝

    I entirely understand the reasoning behind running their searches in a high dimensional vector space rather than raw characters, but with this many searches requiring me to click "no, really, was actually looking for that", am I gonna have to Tampermonkey *GOOGLE*?
