    Instead, Trump had to invoke "both sides", implying opposing white nationalists is equivalent to being white nationalists. Some might argue it was inartful language by Trump, but sorry, the "some Mexicans are rapists and murders" dude doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.

    Trump could've just condemned the violence, condemned the white nationalists, say that he hopes that Charlottesville can find a peaceful and amicable solution to the question of Confederate statues. If he just says that, none of this is a controversy.

    Could there have been "fine people" protesting the removal of Confederate statues that got mixed up with the Richard Spencer cuck crowd? Sure. But how many of those people would want to associate themselves with white nationalists in the first place?
