Yup. Gamergate was the preshow for the alt-right. Milo, Breitbart, etc., all made the transition seamlessly. Nobody involved in gg ever cared about games. I was part of GG years ago, and I got the feeling there were quite a few ppl in it for the games journalism. BUT because these ppl had no fucking clue about politics, or had no political standing, they were used by right wing pundits to further their political agenda.
And because of this cluelessness and apolitical nihilism of the most public part of Gamer Gate, it turned into a far right recruitment tool. And a lot of people were turned into fucking monsters. I barely got out in time, realizing the fuckery going on.
