Hey @TeamYouTube , @YouTube A company is systematically copyright claiming every video I have ever made, despite me owning the rights to all music used in them. Please tell me I don't have to manually dispute all 1800 claims. Please Retweet. YouTube, your system is broken.pic.twitter.com/ijFkSpa1mB

Ok hotshot, how about treating all creators fairly and not just the ones with a big influence?

Creators get banned if they get too many copyright strikes (even if they're completely bogus), so why don't these companies get banned from the system if they send too many false claims?

Then tell me why people keep getting harassed for literally years with no consequences to the harassers? https://twitter.com/michielsikma/status/1016981924500434944 … And why can companies send in 1800 bogus claims and YT still expects you to manually go through each one?

They can’t really ban huge companies that own the rights to hundreds of thousands of songs and NEED to use an automated tool, can they? That would end in hundreds of lawsuits. Do they ban imposters that claim to own the rights to songs? Yes. Solution: better Content ID

Of course they can. YT's dispute system is a privilege, not a right. They don't, however, lose their rights under the DMCA. Just let them send takedown requests manually, at the risk of a lawsuit if they still send out bogus claims. Also: no they don't re: impostors.

And YouTube should hire hundreds of people to read and perform actions dictated by the DMCA-claims? Sounds to me like an automated tool in this day and age is kinda needed.

You're right, they'll never do it despite it being their obligation under the DMCA safe harbor clause. So companies continue to abuse the system freely and without consequence. The only real solution is legislative action.

Like it or not, but today’s solution gives you videos to watch and an audience to reach. Don’t kill the platform before it manages to adapt, and accept the hurdles on the way there. If you can’t accept that you’ll have to turn around and look somewhere while they fix it..

There's nothing wrong with making use of a platform while advocating change. But YT will never change or "adapt". They have no financial incentive to do so. Regulation is the only thing that will solve this.
