Just to be clear the day has already come to the USA with the murder of four journalists and an ad sales associate in my
#CapitalGazette newsroom in Annapolis. Wendi, Rob, Gerald, John and Rebecca were killed doing their jobs by a man who did not like what we wrote. Remember them - 1 more reply

This is the insidious nature of Von Clownstick’s characterization of the press as the “enemy of the people”. His like minded established/wannabe fascists around the world feel emboldened through his anti-democratic pronouncements.pic.twitter.com/Ved3diRYxM

. . . You journalists lie and distort the facts. You create this Saudi story to deflect from Turkey hostage story. Turkey as a news headline twice in one week? Who is creating the headlines? Fake news! . . . .

It's not about disagreeing. It's about feeling threatened that their crimes, their corruption might see the light of the public media.

People kill people all the time for all kinds of terrible reasons. Are journalists not people or some kind of protected class?
-
Only profession explicitly protected by the U.S. constitution. So, the answer to your question is “yes”.
-
You obviously skipped civics in high school. -
Do you have some special insight that’s different from the Founders as to the importance of journalism to our democracy? If so, please share it. I’m certain historians and constitutional scholars are waiting with bated breath.
-
Journalists are not mentioned in the Constitution of the United States. Not once. Freedom of the press does not remove the desires of lunatics to murder people, whether or not they are journalists. Murder is murder. Be reasonable.
